How to Start Attracting Happiness

How To’s designed to get you unstuck and pull you into alignment with your highest self.

There’s not much in life that is more universally desired than happiness.

Like I’ve said before in a previous email, the only reason anyone seems to want anything is because we think it’s going to make us happy.

Buddha said, “There is no path to happiness; happiness is the path.”

In other words, if you’re not happy now, there’s a very good chance you’re not going to be happy even once you get whatever it is you’re wanting, at least not in the long term.

So, how do you make happiness your path?

Let’s start with the principle that we already have and what we’re already experiencing is what we get more of.

Joy attracts joy.

Love attracts love.

And it works with everything, which can be a double edged sword.

Negativity attracts negativity.

Judgment attracts judgment.

Have you ever known someone who seemed to have bad luck at every turn with something negative always happening to them?

How about someone who just seemed to attract positive things no matter what?

The goal is to become one of the people in the second category!

So, let’s break it down.

What does it look like to make happiness our path?

Below are six tips to boost your happiness throughout the week so you can begin attracting more of it!

1. Start a gratitude practice

Research shows that practicing gratitude every day for three weeks actually begins to rewire our brains for happiness.

Each day, make a list of three things you’re grateful for.

Let yourself feel the positive emotions associated with these things or people as if you’re experiencing them for the first time.

That’s it! Two minutes and you’re done.

2. MeditateWe know meditation is good for us – it can just be tough to get started and to keep it up as a practice.

I go into the benefits of meditation and an in-depth how to in a previous email.

3. Practice deep breathing

Deep breathing calms our nervous system, decreasing stress and pain as well as increasing energy and peace.

If you find yourself feeling negatively, taking a few conscious breaths can even you out again, opening you up to a lil more happy!

4. Have a dance party

Emotions live in our bodies.

If we don’t process them, they stay stuck, causing us to continue to feel them as we carry them around for days or weeks or years. GROSS!

To get rid of negative emotions like anger, sadness, and fear, shake it out by spending a few minutes dancing.

This literally gets the energy of the emotion moving so it can leave your body!

5. Go outside

Taking even a short walk outside or a stroll around a park improves our focus and reduces the stress hormone Cortisol.

Sunlight increases serotonin which boosts our mood and helps balance our circadian rhythms for a better night’s sleep.

6. Spend time with someone you love

Can you think of someone in your life who gives you energy when you spend time with them?

Set some time to be with this person and notice your happiness increase when you’re together.

Summing up

It doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to be miserable on your way to being happy.

And scientifically, it just doesn’t work that way.

What you have now in terms of your emotional wellbeing is what you’re gonna get more of.

If you choose to plant some seeds of happiness in your life, things will all start to turn around for you.

However you choose to incorporate happiness into your life this week, know that it is an investment in future happiness.

Let me know if I can help you put any of these things into practice by keeping you accountable or encouraging you!
